Obviously, Hamilton was released on Disney+ recently. Also, obviously, it is one the most awesome musicals ever! Very "woke" as the cool kids say. People who don’t even like musicals, history, or anything of the like are super into it. The music, the spectacle, and everything about it totally draws you in. Some people might think it’s overrated or over-hyped, but as far as I know, nobody has said so. Anything negative has all been nit-picks.
Anyways, since the show has been released on Disney+, I’ve taken up re-listening to the soundtrack whenever I have the chance. Whenever I do, I’m seriously always thinking, just imagine being that talented! All those people with those incredible voices, being able to belt out those power numbers and/or rap so fast. Then, of course, Lin-Manuel Miranda for writing the entire thing! What’s it like just being so amazingly talented? I’m blown away every time I listen to it.
Well, I was listening to all the songs and was struggling to pick some favorites. Seriously, the entire show is so dang good. I don’t think there’s one bad or boring song. I couldn’t even narrow it down to a top ten (for real, I tried, but I couldn’t do it). So, here is my top fifteen favorite Hamilton songs:
15) Ten Duel Commandments
For some reason, a lot of people consider this a pretty weak song. I can’t imagine why because I think it’s not only a totally boss song, but it does a great job at setting up the ultimate fate of Hamilton when he duels with Burr.

14) What’d I Miss?
A completely hilarious and catchy introduction of Thomas Jefferson into the play. It gives you a sense of his character with a sort of jazzy melody while he struts around the stage.
FAVORITE QUOTE: "Virginia my home sweet home, I wanna give you a kiss *kisses*"

13) My Shot
The main theme of the play, of course. Apparently this took years for Lin-Manuel Miranda to write. I’m not surprised because this rap is LONG and full of poetic rhymes, metaphors, and play on words. It’s also super catchy and fun.
FAVORITE LINE: "I am the A-L-E-X-A-N-D-E-R we are meant to be"

12) Alexander Hamilton
A truly amazing and mind blowing start to the play. Introducing the main character by having all the other characters tell his story in an intense rhythm.

11) Guns and Ships
The rapping in this one is insane! Props to whoever’s playing Lafayette because sheesh! It’s pretty short, but it’s catchy as heck!
FAVORITE LINE: "Everyone give it up for America's favorite fighting Frenchman! LAFAYETTE!"

10) The Schuyler Sisters
All. The. Harmonies. Yes! I get chills. There's so many great lines and play on words in this one. I love when Burr comes to flirt with them. Haha!
FAVORITE LINE: “We hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal and when I meet Thomas Jefferson I'ma compel him to include women in the sequel!”

9) The Reynolds Pamphlet
I don’t know exactly why I’m so drawn to this one. Even though it’s kind of a tragic song, it’s surprisingly fun. The repeated “he’s never gonna be president now” is so super catchy. Plus, I think I just love all the little random shouts in it like “highlights!” and “d*mn!”

8) You’ll Be Back
Catchy, hilarious, amazingly stupid, and completely out of place from everything else in the show. That “da da da da da, da da da da day da da” Hahaha! He sounds like a psychotic spurned boyfriend.
FAVORITE LINE: “I will kill your friends and family to remind you of my love.”

7) The Room Where It Happens
That brass accompaniment. Ooh! It’s so intense and jazzy at the same time. Plus it does a great job of setting up Burr's ultimate breaking point in the end when he finally decides to shoot Hamilton. I always love seeing those seeds getting planted.

6) Cabinet Battle #1
I love how the cabinet meetings are set up like rap battles and they just roast each other and their ideas the entire time. It’s such a brilliant and fun idea. I like this first cabinet meeting better than the second one, though. It’s funnier and more catchy, plus there’s a lot more roasting; not to mention I love Jefferson and Madison taunting Hamilton afterwards: “you don’t have the votes ahahaha!”
FAVORITE LINE: Your debts are paid 'cause you don't pay for labor. 'We plant seeds in the South. We create.' Yeah, keep ranting. We know who's really doing the planting."

5) Right Hand Man
Not only is this a crazy catchy song and an awesome way to introduce George Washington into the play, but I love how it portrays the war only through song, dance, and lighting. It’s so intense and fun at the same time.
FAVORITE LINE: "Now I'm the model of a modern major general. The venerated Virginian veteran whose men are all lining up, to put me up on a pedestal"

4) Satisfied
I know that this song is a lot of people’s favorite. Easily, these next few could tie for my favorite, it just sort of depends on my mood that day. The lady who plays Angelica has probably the best voice of the entire cast and she totally knocks it out of the park with this song.
FAVORITE LINE: "And I realize three fundamental truths at the exact same time"

3) Non-Stop
If I remember right, this was the first song I ever heard from Hamilton way back in the day. It is so fun and upbeat though as the finale to Act 1 with everybody singing at some point. It’s probably the most difficult song that I know all the way through (almost. The rapping parts I still struggle a little with). A sign that I listen to it a lot.
FAVORITE LINE: "John Jay got sick after writing five, James Madison wrote 29, Hamilton wrote THE OTHER 51!"

2) Helpless
Such a cute song. “You walked in and my heart went BOOM!” It’s a mix of beautiful and catchy without being super slow. It goes without saying, Hamilton doesn't deserve Eliza at all. But them falling in love and getting married is too adorable to ignore. It's nice because after all that happens later on, deep down, you still kind of root for them.
FAVORITE QUOTE: “As long as I’m alive, Eliza, I swear to God, you'll never feel so helpless!”

1) Wait For It
Oh my goodness. The first time I heard this, I was like “This. This is my favorite song.” It’s so powerful. Not only powerful, but beautifully sung. Chills every time I hear it. Not to mention it gives real insight into Aaron Burr’s point of view for the first time. The entire play has been Hamilton’s view of Burr, but finally Burr talks about his ambitions, why he does what he does, and how he feels about Hamilton. So good!
