Plot Twists

Everyone loves a good plot twist. It's that moment in a movie/show/book that makes you go:
"Did NOT see that one coming!". Whether it be a good twist or a bad twist, it just blows your mind! But there are some movies or whatever where the plot twist is just so unexpected that your jaw is literally on the ground. Where you just need to take a breather for a moment to comprehend what just happened. I'm just going to take a moment to list my personal top plot twists.

(From least to greatest)

4) WAIT UNTIL DARK- ENDING
This is at the bottom of my list since it's technically not a plot twist per-say, but holy crap-balls does it make you jump out of your seat. It's just one of THE most unexpected things! I hardly ever full-on scream out in fear at anything, maybe just a little yelp of surprise, but this... this I did actually scream at.

3) FRIENDS- ROSS SAYS RACHEL
Now I hear this was all the rage back in the day when it first aired. Like the biggest "oh snap!" moment for everyone. It just totally comes out of nowhere. He's standing up there at the altar and just says it... and then the episode ends. Like I said, "ohhhhh snap!".

2) WRECK-IT RALPH- TURBO
Disney is normally pretty predictable, but I literally made that face up there at the top when I first saw this movie. I mean, Turbo is always casually referenced throughout the film, but you're convinced that he's dead and is just a bad example of what will happen if you game-jump. But nope. He's actually been there the whole time and reprogrammed an entire game so he could take over (just like he did before) and, and... well everything just falls together and it blows my mind.

1) STAR WARS- DARTH VADER IS LUKE'S FATHER
The mother of all plot twists! Seriously I don't think anything will ever top this. Ever. I wasn't alive when the movie first came out, but I hear stories about how it was all the talk amongst people for ages. Was he telling the truth? Was he lying? Was it all a trick to get Luke to join the dark side? Does it actually make sense for him to be his father? Seriously no one saw it coming. Even the people who worked on it. The script actually said "Obi-Wan killed your father." Only five people knew what the line really said before the movie was released. George Lucas (obviously, since he wrote it), Irvin Kershner (the director), Lawrence Kasdan (a writer), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) was told like five minutes before filming so he could give a proper reaction to the news, and James Earl Jones (voice of Darth Vader) since he actually spoke the line (and he thought it was just a joke since he spoke both the real line and the fake line). Even David Prowse (who played Darth Vader) didn't know what it said. Can you imagine everyone watching them film like "What the heck is wrong with Mark? Why's he being SOOO dramatic about it?".
I never got the full on shock to the news since I grew up surrounded by Star Wars pop culture, including everyone always quoting the all-too famous line "Luke, I am your father". So, I wasn't all that surprised when I actually watched the movie. But still, I have to acknowledge what a huge plot twist it actually is. And when I watch things like this quick 50 second VIDEO, it just totally confirms it.
